Dhaka: Pakistan’s batting remained steady against Bangladesh in the first Test match being played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka after the hosts were bowled out for 413 runs in their first innings.
At the latest update, Pakistan had completed 15 overs of their first innings, with opener Imam-ul-Haq and debutant Azan Awais at the crease.
The visitors are aiming for a solid start in response to Bangladesh’s competitive first-innings total.
Bangladesh Bowled Out for 413
Earlier on the second day of the Test match, Bangladesh resumed their innings at 301 for 4 with Mushfiqur Rahim unbeaten on 48 and Litton Das on 8.
However, Litton Das failed to build a substantial partnership and was dismissed for 33 runs by fast bowler Mohammad Abbas.
Abbas continued to trouble the Bangladeshi batting lineup and soon removed Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 10 runs.
Bangladesh then lost their seventh wicket when Taijul Islam scored 17 before edging a delivery from Abbas to wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.
Mushfiqur Rahim Anchors the Innings
By lunch, Bangladesh had reached 380 for 7, with veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim batting on 71 alongside Ebadot Hossain.
After the break, Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi’s pace delivery without adding to his score.
Ebadot Hossain was then sent back without scoring after being caught behind off Mohammad Abbas.
Taskin Ahmed added a useful 28 runs before also falling to Shaheen Afridi, while Nahid Rana contributed 4 runs.
Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 413 runs, setting Pakistan a challenging target to respond to in the first innings.
Mohammad Abbas Leads Pakistan Bowling Attack
Pakistan’s bowling attack delivered an impressive performance, led by Mohammad Abbas, who claimed five wickets.
Shaheen Shah Afridi supported well with three wickets, while Hasan Ali and Nauman Ali picked up one wicket each.
Abbas’ disciplined line and length played a crucial role in restricting Bangladesh from posting an even bigger total.
Pakistan Begin Reply Carefully
Pakistan began their innings cautiously against the Bangladeshi bowling attack, with Imam-ul-Haq and debutant Azan Awais showing patience at the crease.
Cricket analysts say Pakistan will look to build partnerships and avoid early wickets on a batting-friendly pitch.
The performance of Azan Awais is also being closely watched, as the young batter is making his Test debut for Pakistan.
Toss and Match Situation
Pakistan had won the toss earlier and elected to bowl first, hoping to take advantage of early conditions.
Although Bangladesh managed to cross the 400-run mark, Pakistan’s bowlers fought back strongly to prevent the hosts from dominating completely.
The Test match remains evenly poised, with Pakistan now seeking a strong batting performance to match or surpass Bangladesh’s first-innings total.
Fans from both countries continue to follow the contest closely as the opening Test promises an exciting battle between bat and ball in Dhaka.
