New York: Amid ongoing tensions surrounding Iran and the United States, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, has said that any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz during former U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to China would become a key agenda item.
The remarks come as the broader geopolitical situation in the Middle East continues to remain sensitive following reports of military confrontations and maritime tensions in key shipping routes.
The Chinese envoy emphasized that China–U.S. relations are not limited to developments in the Strait of Hormuz alone. He said that bilateral ties between the two countries are important for both nations and their people, and also carry global significance.
Fu Cong stated that stable and constructive relations between China and the United States would benefit the wider international community as well. He stressed that such relations should be built on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation.
His statement highlights growing international concern over potential disruptions in critical maritime corridors, especially the Strait of Hormuz, which is one of the world’s most important energy transit routes.
Diplomatic observers note that any escalation or blockade in the region could have serious implications for global energy markets and international security discussions, making it a priority issue in multilateral diplomatic engagements.
