BADIN (Durr Mahfooz Shah): A coordination meeting of district officers was held at the Sessions Court conference hall under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge Badin Abdul Quddus Memon.
Officers from health, revenue, police, excise, local government and other departments attended the meeting. The judge reviewed the performance of various departments and sought briefings on public problems and their timely resolution.
The judge directed the Indus Hospital administration to ensure that patients receive maximum possible treatment facilities in Badin instead of being unnecessarily referred to other cities, particularly to ease the difficulties faced by poor and deserving patients.
He expressed serious displeasure over the performance of the Chief Municipal Officer and took notice of the city’s poor sanitation, mosquito infestation and stray dog problem. He ordered immediate drainage of sewage and stagnant water and directed authorities to take effective measures against mosquitoes and stray dogs.
Building officials were instructed to provide separate washrooms for women at bus stops, courts and hospitals. The police surgeon was directed to address delays in chemical and forensic reports in murder, rape and other serious cases, as such delays affect the timely disposal of cases.
Revenue officials were told to complete routine public matters within the prescribed time to prevent unnecessary litigation. NADRA officials were directed not to raise unjustified objections to applications for identity cards and Family Registration Certificates.
The Forest Department was instructed to launch a tree-plantation campaign, prevent illegal cutting of trees and stop unauthorized transportation of timber.
The District and Sessions Judge said that providing justice to the public is the judiciary’s top priority, adding that cases would be decided on merit, law and available evidence, and that no one is above the law.
