KARACHI: The All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance has announced a 5% increase in freight charges following the latest rise in petroleum product prices.
Alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan condemned the fuel price increases, saying diesel had risen by Rs19 and petrol by Rs20 per litre in just 17 days.
He said transporters had already postponed a nationwide strike for 40 days following assurances from the federal and provincial governments, but several demands remained unresolved.
Awan said the increase in goods transport fares was necessary due to the rising fuel costs.
The government recently increased the price of petrol by Rs5.58 to Rs364.35 per litre, while diesel rose by Rs4.18 to Rs385.95 per litre.
