PESHAWAR: PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that the people want to break free from the status quo and that a peaceful march will be held on September 27.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar said the march was not being organised as a matter of entertainment or for personal interest, and that government resources would not be used for the event.
He expressed hope that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other opposition parties would join the march.
Barrister Gohar said the people wanted democratic change and fresh elections, adding that they had grown tired of political tensions and divisions.
He cautioned that rushing into decisions regarding the creation of new provinces could be harmful.
The PTI chairman also said that party founder Imran Khan was facing health issues, which was why an appeal had been made to the Chief Justice to schedule the relevant hearing at the earliest.
Commenting on the nursing college incident, Barrister Gohar described alleged police violence against students as regrettable and said the relevant SHO had been suspended. He added that peaceful protesters should not be subjected to violence.
He also condemned the Punjab chief minister’s remarks regarding provinces and demanded that she withdraw her statement.
