KARACHI: The Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme has announced a significant increase in the daily compensation paid to frontline polio workers.
According to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), the daily remuneration of frontline polio workers has been increased by 28 percent.
The NEOC said the revised compensation will take effect from the next polio vaccination campaign.
According to the programme’s spokesperson, the next nationwide anti-polio campaign will be conducted from September 21 to 27 across 115 districts of the country.
More than 31 million children are expected to receive polio drops during the campaign.
The increase in frontline workers’ compensation comes as Pakistan continues its efforts to eradicate poliovirus and strengthen vaccination coverage across the country.
