HYDERABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has criticized the political leadership of Punjab and Sindh, alleging that governments in the two provinces have continued to be formed around specific families.
Speaking at Hyderabad’s Haider Chowk, Afridi claimed that two families had been imposed on the entire country and accused them of putting personal interests ahead of Pakistan’s national interests.
He said, “They were not sincere with Pakistan in the past, nor will they be in the future,” alleging that these political groups had consistently prioritized their own interests.
Earlier, addressing supporters at the Tando Jam Toll Plaza, Afridi said Sindh had a tradition of welcoming guests. He said that despite the obstacles being placed in his way, he would reach Karachi.
Addressing PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the KP chief minister said he should acknowledge that the actions being taken against his political opponents were being carried out by the Sindh government. He challenged Bilawal to identify who was responsible if he disagreed with the allegation.
Afridi later reached Karachi along with PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh.
Speaking to party workers at the Karachi Toll Plaza, Afridi said Bilawal had posted a message welcoming him a day earlier, but roads were blocked when he arrived. He claimed that his convoy had to travel through an alternative route to reach Karachi.
The KP chief minister questioned whether the Sindh chief minister had authority over the provincial administration or whether someone else was effectively running the government.
Afridi also said Karachi had long remained a victim of political and administrative neglect. He alleged that various groups had benefited from the city while its residents continued to face difficulties.
He further accused the government of disregarding court orders and said judicial directives were being ignored.
Reiterating his criticism of the country’s political system, Afridi alleged that two political families had dominated national politics and continued to exercise influence over the country.
His remarks came during his visit to Karachi, where he addressed PTI supporters and criticized the Sindh government over the alleged blocking of roads and restrictions on his movement.
The Sindh government’s position on the allegations was not included in the statements cited above.
