BADIN, September 6, 2026: A Shooting Ball Tournament was organized at the Police Lines Badin on the occasion of Defence Day of Pakistan under the auspices of District Sports Officer Badin Anwar Ali Roshan.
In the final, Mehboob Club Hyderabad delivered an impressive performance and defeated the Badin Police team after a closely contested match to win the tournament title.
Addressing the closing ceremony, chief guest and District Information Secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party Pir Waqar Shah Jilani said that promoting sports and keeping sports grounds active was essential for building a healthy society. He said sporting opportunities help young people stay away from social evils and negative activities.
Jilani added that sports play an important role in the mental and physical development of youth while promoting discipline, tolerance, competitive spirit and teamwork.
He congratulated Mehboob Club Hyderabad captain Mehboob Ali Solangi and his team on their victory and expressed his best wishes to Badin Police captain Abdul Waqar Arain and his team for finishing as runners-up. He praised both teams for their outstanding performances in the final.
Jilani said the Pakistan Peoples Party and Sindh Government were taking steps to provide better sports facilities and promote sporting activities across the province. He said continued efforts would be made to advance Sindh in education, sports and other fields.
District Sports Officer Anwar Ali Roshan said various sports competitions were being regularly organized in Badin. These include shooting ball, cricket, football, Malakhra, Wanjh Wati, table tennis and traditional games such as Lattu and marbles, along with other indoor and outdoor sports.
He said the objective of these activities was to encourage young people to participate in healthy and positive pursuits.
Assistant Sports Officer Abdul Razzaq Khaskheli, Deputy Director Information Sarfraz Samoon, Inspector Ashiq Ali Memon, Abdul Rahim Khatti, political and social leaders, players, sports enthusiasts and a large number of citizens attended the closing ceremony.
Trophies were presented to the winning and runners-up teams, while prizes were also distributed among the players.
