Former Israeli military generals have accused the Israeli government of supporting violence by settlers in the occupied West Bank.
According to foreign media reports, the former generals said the actions of settlers pose a greater threat to Israel than Iran or Gaza. They warned that continued lawlessness could threaten the existence of Israel’s democracy.
The former commanders also alleged that settlers have been setting fire to Palestinian homes, mosques and villages in the West Bank.
Meanwhile, the United Nations has reported that more than 3,200 Palestinians have been displaced so far this year as a result of settler-related violence and attacks.
