Punjab rolls out petrol relief package — complete procedure announced

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Saturday launched a comprehensive petrol relief package following a sharp increase in petroleum prices.

In a statement shared on social media, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced a wide-ranging relief package aimed at reducing the financial burden on citizens.

Free motorcycle registration and transfer

As part of the package, public transport has been made free across the province. Additionally, motorcycle registration charges and transfer fees have been waived.

Rs2,000 monthly support

The government has also introduced a fuel subsidy for registered motorcycle owners.

Under the scheme, eligible citizens will receive a subsidy of Rs100 per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol per month, amounting to Rs2,000 monthly support.

The relief package has been implemented with immediate effect.

Registered motorcycle owners can apply through the following methods:

Call the helpline 1000

Apply via the official web portal mkb.punjab.gov.pk

Use the mobile app “Maryam Ke Batain”

Additional Relief Measures

Farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs100 per litre on diesel per acre

Financial assistance will be provided to wheat growers owning up to 25 acres of land

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the government is working tirelessly to reduce the economic burden on the common man and support the agricultural sector.

Meanwhile, the federal government announced a fresh adjustment in the petrol price, setting it at Rs378 per litre, with the revised rate coming into effect from midnight.

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing the nation, confirmed that the petrol price reduction will remain in place for one month as part of a short-term relief measure aimed at easing pressure on the public.

In addition to the fuel adjustment, the Prime Minister also announced strict austerity steps, stating that the salaries and privileges of cabinet members will remain suspended for the next six months.
