Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that the government has made the lives of the laymen difficult as huge rise in petroleum prices are aggravating economic woes of the masses.
Addressing public meeting in Swat, JI chief lamented that political parties were indifferent to public issues.
He said that government was grabbing 35 percent tax on petroleum from the pockets of the government. JI chief said the government has failed to deliver. He said it was Jamaat-e-Islami that has secured a reduction in electricity bills.
Hafiz Naeem said the rulers cannot reduce the petroleum levy, JI will announce more sit-in on daily basis.
JI chief said people’s lands in Swat were seized and ownership rights were not being granted.
Hafiz Naeem said tax relief had been granted to the Malakand Division. Instability was imposed on the people of Malakand; the demand for a tax exemption by the residents of Malakand Division is justified. Hafiz Naeem demanded tax exemption should be granted until conditions return to normal.
