After completion of the legal formalities, the police handed the body of foreign mountaineer Alexander over to his heirs. The body of the Irish tourist, who died while returning from the summit of Musa Ka Musalla, was taken to King Abdullah Hospital in Mansehra. Alexander’s family also reached the hospital to receive his body.
His family remained in a vehicle at the hospital, while police stopped the media from approaching them.
Police said the family refused to have a post-mortem examination carried out. The administration completed arrangements to transport the body to Islamabad. The body was later sent to Islamabad by ambulance.
Earlier, the family of an Irish tourist who died after falling into a deep gorge in Mansehra in the atmosphere of bad weather has reached Pakistan. According to DIG Hazara Nasir Mahmood Satti, the foreign tourist Alexander accidentally fell into a deep gorge near Musa Da Musalla mountain while returning. He sustained serious injuries and later died. The body is being shifted to King Abdullah Hospital for legal formalities, while the tourist’s family has reached Pakistan and is receiving assistance from Hazara Police as well. The DIG called the incident sad and regrettable, saying police, Rescue 1122, the Forest Department and local residents took part in the search operation despite difficult weather and terrain.
He added that Hazara Police gives special importance to the safety of domestic and foreign tourists and will take all possible measures to facilitate and protect them.
