SUKKUR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that Pakistan cannot be governed through coercion and must instead be run according to the Constitution and the genuine will of the people.
Addressing the Sindh General Council of JUI-F in Sukkur, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the country was facing a serious crisis because of interest-based politics and misguided policies. He stressed that immediate reforms were needed in national policies and the overall direction of the country.
In his keynote address, the JUI-F chief said Pakistan could not be run through force or coercion. He maintained that the country’s affairs must be conducted in accordance with the Constitution and the genuine opinion of the people.
Hundreds of members of the JUI-F Sindh General Council attended the meeting. Central Secretary General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Sindh Secretary General Maulana Rashid Mahmood Soomro and other party leaders also addressed the gathering.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman rejected proposals concerning the division of provinces, saying such moves could create further political and social instability in the country.
He expressed concern over the prevailing law and order and economic situation, describing both as serious challenges requiring immediate attention.
The JUI-F chief also emphasized the importance of Parliament in national decision-making. He said Parliament is the supreme constitutional institution and must be taken into confidence on important national matters.
He called for national decisions to be made through constitutional and democratic mechanisms, stressing that political stability and public confidence are essential for addressing the country’s economic and security challenges.
