KARACHI: Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has urged society not to view divorced or widowed women negatively if they choose to remarry, saying that marriage is a personal decision and should be respected.
In a video message, Hamza Ali Abbasi said that a particular segment of society considers it inappropriate for widowed and divorced women—especially those who have children—to marry again.
He said such women are often subjected to negative attitudes and social judgment when they express a desire to start a new married life.
“Whether someone wants to remarry or not should be entirely that person’s decision, and we should not interfere in it,” Hamza said.
He appealed to people to change their attitudes towards women who wish to marry again, emphasizing that they should not be viewed negatively because remarriage is a right granted to them by Islam.
The actor further said that it was against basic ethics to interfere when an individual wanted to make a personal decision about their own life.
Hamza stressed the importance of respecting personal choices and avoiding unnecessary social pressure or judgment, particularly when it comes to matters as personal as marriage and family life.
