WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has shared an AI-generated video on social media depicting a sign reading “Lake America” being installed in place of a sign for Lake Ontario.
The video comes amid Trump’s push to rename Lake Ontario as “Lake America” following escalating tensions between the United States and Canada over trade.
Trump reportedly signed an executive order on Thursday directing the US Department of the Interior to initiate the process of changing the name of Lake Ontario to “Lake America.”
Following the executive order, Trump shared the AI-generated video portraying workers replacing the existing Lake Ontario sign with a new sign bearing the name “Lake America.”
The move has attracted attention on social media, particularly because the lake is an internationally recognized geographic feature associated with both the United States and Canada.
