LARKANA, August 31, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Larkana Tariq Manzoor Chandio has directed officials to ensure complete preparedness for the upcoming anti-polio campaign and stressed that no child should be left without receiving polio drops.
He issued the directives while presiding over a meeting at the Darbar Hall of his office to review preparations for the upcoming polio vaccination campaign, scheduled to be conducted across the district from September 21 to September 24, 2026.
The deputy commissioner stressed that all officials and field teams must perform their duties responsibly and ensure that there was no negligence during the campaign. He said coordinated efforts were essential to ensure that every eligible child received the required polio drops.
Tariq Manzoor Chandio directed the relevant officials to prepare and maintain complete and accurate data for the campaign. He also sought detailed information about the vaccination teams, the administrative mechanism established for the campaign and the availability of essential equipment and supplies.
He instructed officials to identify potential problems in advance and resolve them promptly so that the campaign could proceed without disruption.
The deputy commissioner particularly emphasised that there should be no shortage of equipment or other essential supplies during the vaccination drive. He directed all concerned officers to remain vigilant and take immediate action if any operational issue emerged.
Education Department Asked to Provide Enrollment Data
During the meeting, the deputy commissioner directed education department officials to provide complete enrollment details of newly admitted students.
He said the information was necessary to ensure that children who had recently enrolled in schools were also included in the polio vaccination campaign.
He further directed authorities to ensure that private schools also provide details of newly enrolled children so that vaccination teams could administer polio drops to eligible children studying in those institutions.
Special Focus on Migrant Children
The deputy commissioner also instructed officials to closely monitor children arriving in Larkana from other areas.
He directed teams deployed at designated transit points to ensure that every eligible child passing through these locations received polio drops.
He also asked officials to provide information about any polio-related case or issue reported in the Katcha areas, so that appropriate measures could be taken.
349,000 Children to Be Vaccinated
Officials gave a detailed briefing during the meeting and said that approximately 349,000 children across Larkana district would be administered polio drops during the upcoming campaign.
A total of 102 vaccination teams have been formed for the drive. These teams will visit households across the district to administer polio drops to children.
Medical officers appointed in each union council, focal persons, elected representatives and teams associated with the health department will also participate in the campaign.
