The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally lodged a complaint regarding a controversial DRS review during the third One Day International between Pakistan national cricket team and Bangladesh national cricket team.
According to reports from cricket media, the Pakistan team management raised the issue with the match referee, Naeem Rashid, over a disputed review taken by Bangladesh in the final over of the match.
The controversy occurred on the fifth delivery of the last over when the on-field umpire called a ball from Bangladeshi bowler Rishad Hossain as a wide. After the decision was displayed on the stadium’s television screen with a replay, Bangladesh’s captain requested a DRS review.
At that stage of the match, Pakistan required 12 runs from two balls to win. Following the review, the umpire reversed the wide-ball decision. As a result, Pakistan’s equation changed dramatically, leaving them needing 12 runs from just one delivery.
The Pakistan team management argued that a review should not be allowed once a replay has already been shown on the stadium screen, as it could influence the decision-making process. In their complaint, PCB officials pointed out this procedural concern to the match referee and requested that the matter be examined.
So far, the PCB has not publicly specified what action it expects from the match referee or the governing body. However, sources suggest the board may at least seek an official clarification or acknowledgement of an error related to the review process.
The match itself ended in disappointment for Pakistan, as Bangladesh national cricket team defeated Pakistan national cricket team by 11 runs, winning the ODI series 2–1.
This is not the first controversy in the series. In the previous match, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha was declared run out in a disputed incident when he stepped out of his crease to return the ball. The decision led to a tense exchange of words between him and Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
