Rainfall in several cities across Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, has made the weather pleasant and brought relief from dry conditions. According to the Meteorological Department, showers were reported in different parts of the province, creating cooler temperatures and a refreshing atmosphere for residents.

The rainfall occurred in multiple areas during the day and evening, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature. Citizens in the affected cities experienced cloudy skies, cool breezes, and intermittent rainfall, which many welcomed after days of relatively warm and dry weather.

Officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department confirmed that rain was recorded in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and several other districts of Punjab. Meteorologists stated that the weather system responsible for the rainfall is expected to influence northern regions of the country as well.

Forecast for Northern Areas

The Meteorological Department has predicted that more rain may occur in various parts of the northern regions today. These include Islamabad, the Pothohar Plateau, upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.

Meteorologists say scattered rainfall is possible in these areas, and cloudy conditions may persist throughout the day. In some locations, light to moderate showers are expected, while certain mountainous areas could experience heavier rainfall due to local weather patterns.

Weather experts have advised residents to stay updated with forecasts, particularly those living in mountainous regions where rainfall can sometimes lead to landslides or travel disruptions.

Recent Weather Incidents

The recent weather system has already caused some disruptions in northern Pakistan. On the previous day, heavy rainfall triggered landslides in the upper regions, affecting road connectivity in several areas.

One of the major impacts was reported on the Karakoram Highway, a key road connecting Pakistan with China and linking many northern districts. Due to landslides and debris falling onto the road, multiple sections of the highway were blocked in the region of Upper Kohistan.

Authorities and road maintenance teams have been working to clear the affected sections of the highway so that traffic can resume normally. The Karakoram Highway is an important route for both local transportation and international trade, so restoring traffic flow quickly is considered a priority.

Lightning Strike Tragedy in Shangla

Apart from road disruptions, the recent weather also led to a tragic incident in the mountainous district of Shangla District. According to reports, lightning struck a house during the storm, resulting in the deaths of three members of the same family.

Local authorities confirmed that the lightning strike hit the residential building during heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity. The sudden strike caused severe damage to the house and led to the immediate deaths of the individuals inside.

Rescue teams and local residents reached the site shortly after the incident and shifted the victims’ bodies to a nearby health facility. Such lightning-related incidents occasionally occur in mountainous regions of Pakistan during intense storms, especially during seasonal transitions.

Impact of Rainfall on Daily Life

While the rain has caused some localized disruptions, many residents in cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore welcomed the change in weather. The rainfall has reduced dust in the air, improved air quality, and lowered temperatures, making outdoor conditions more comfortable.

In urban areas, people were seen enjoying the cooler weather, with parks and public spaces becoming more pleasant after the showers. However, authorities have also warned that intermittent rain could lead to slippery roads and minor traffic slowdowns, especially during peak commuting hours.

Weather Advisory

The Meteorological Department continues to monitor the weather system and has advised citizens to remain cautious, particularly in areas prone to landslides or thunderstorms. Travelers heading toward northern mountainous regions should check road conditions before starting their journeys.

Authorities also recommend that residents avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall and remain indoors during lightning storms to reduce the risk of accidents.

Overall, the rainfall has brought a welcome change in weather conditions across much of northern Pakistan and Punjab, though officials remain alert to possible weather-related hazards in sensitive regions.
