Pakistani security forces carried out a series of intelligence-driven operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), eliminating 13 militants reportedly supported by India, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed. The operations targeted multiple locations over the course of 6–7 March, aiming to dismantle insurgent networks operating in the province.

According to the ISPR, security forces conducted five separate operations across different districts of KP. During these encounters, armed clashes resulted in the deaths of 13 militants affiliated with the Fathna al-Khawarij extremist group. The operations focused on neutralizing insurgent hideouts identified through credible intelligence.

Operations across multiple districts

In Bajaur district, security forces effectively targeted a militant hideout based on specific intelligence. A heavy exchange of fire ensued, leading to the deaths of five militants. Similarly, in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan, operations resulted in the elimination of three more militants belonging to the same extremist network.

In Khyber and South Waziristan districts, two separate clashes led to the deaths of five additional militants. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased, indicating their involvement in multiple terrorist attacks and planned operations in the region.

The ISPR emphasized that the killed militants were linked to Indian support, highlighting the cross-border nature of the threats faced by Pakistan’s security forces. Officials noted that the deceased individuals had been actively involved in planning and executing acts of terrorism in KP.

Continued counterterrorism operations

Despite challenges along the Afghanistan border, Pakistani security forces continue to conduct robust counterterrorism operations aimed at eliminating insurgent networks. The ISPR reaffirmed that the forces remain committed and vigilant in defending Pakistan’s borders and maintaining internal security.

The operations are part of a broader initiative known as “Azm-e-Istiqamat” (Resolve for Stability), under which security and law enforcement agencies are systematically targeting militants to completely eradicate terrorism from the region. Authorities have stated that operations will continue until all Indian-supported and other extremist elements are neutralized.

Strategic and security significance

Officials underscored that the elimination of these militants disrupts planned attacks and significantly weakens extremist networks in KP. The recovery of weapons and ammunition from these operations further prevents their potential use in terrorist activities targeting civilians and security personnel.

ISPR highlighted that intelligence-based precision operations are key to minimizing collateral damage while effectively neutralizing threats. The success of these operations demonstrates the capability and readiness of Pakistani forces to respond to militant activity promptly and decisively.

Authorities reaffirmed their determination to continue coordinated operations across KP, aiming for complete eradication of Indian-supported and local extremist groups. These measures are part of Pakistan’s broader counterterrorism strategy, ensuring both regional stability and national security.

The ISPR concluded by stating that security forces and law enforcement agencies remain resolute and steadfast, committed to eliminating terrorism from Pakistan’s borders and ensuring the safety of citizens.

These recent operations underscore Pakistan’s ongoing focus on counterterrorism and border security, emphasizing the role of actionable intelligence and rapid response in preventing militant threats.
