Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, has condemned the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, calling it a religious crime with severe consequences. In a statement, Araghchi emphasized that Iran has no intention of engaging in conflict with regional countries, but urged neighboring states to pressure the United States regarding attacks on Iran.
Araghchi criticized the US for undermining diplomacy by launching attacks amid ongoing negotiations, describing such actions as a breach of trust. He also shared images of the graves of 160 schoolgirls killed in the US strike, stating that this tragic event was linked to the “rescue” that former Donald Trump had promised to the Iranian people.
In parallel, Ali Larijani, Secretary-General of Iran’s National Security Council, warned that Iran is preparing for a prolonged conflict to defend its 6,000-year-old civilization. He stressed that the country is ready to safeguard its cultural and historical heritage while responding to external threats.
The statements underline Tehran’s strong condemnation of foreign attacks, framing them as both a violation of religious sanctity and an affront to Iran’s sovereignty. Iranian officials continue to call for regional and international actors to intervene diplomatically to prevent further escalation, while signaling preparedness for long-term defensive measures.
