Former Balochistan governor Lt-Gen Imranullah Khan has breathed his last at the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi after a prolonged illness.
The Namaz-e-Janaza and burial will take place in his native village in Charsadda today.
Serving in the Pakistan Army, he took part in the 1965 war as a captain and in the 1971 war as a Battalion Commander. He also participated in the Siachen operation as a Corps Commander.
He remained the Governor of Balochistan in the Pakistan Peoples Party-led government from May 1994 to May 1997.
PM condoles
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep and heartfelt sorrow over the sad demise of former Governor of Balochistan Lt.-Gen ® Imranullah Khan.
In a statement, the prime minister offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the departed soul in Jannah.
“May Allah Almighty grant the departed soul a place in His mercy and give patience and fortitude to the bereaved family,” the prime minister prayed.
Mohsin Naqvi offers condolences
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condoled the sad demise of former Governor of Balochistan Lt-Gen ® Imranullah Khan, who died yesterday in the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi.
In his condolence message, Mohsin Naqvi prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude and courage.
End of long friendship bond: CM Bugti
In his condolence statement, the chief minister said that General (retd) Imranullah Khan was a sincere, dignified and highly respected personality.
He was a close friend and long-standing companion of CM Bugti’s late father, Mir Ghulam Qadir Bugti, and the two families had maintained longstanding and close relations.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the death of General (retd) Imranullah Khan marked the end of a longstanding bond of friendship and affection. He said the deceased’s services, dignity and sincerity towards his friends would always be remembered with respect.
The chief minister prayed to Allah Almighty to grant the deceased complete forgiveness, elevate his ranks and bless him with a high place in Jannat-ul-Firdous.
He also extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family, praying that Allah Almighty grant them patience and strength to bear the irreparable loss.
