Kohat: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and two other personnel were martyred in a terrorist attack on a police mobile van in the outskirts of Kohat, officials confirmed.

According to the District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, the incident took place on Shakardara Road, where unidentified terrorists opened fire on a police mobile van. As a result of the heavy gunfire, several police officials sustained injuries.

Later, the DPO confirmed that DSP Wahid Mehmood was among the three officers who embraced martyrdom in the attack. In addition to the three martyrs, four other personnel were injured and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their condition is being monitored by medical staff.

Police authorities stated that after carrying out the attack, the terrorists set the police mobile van on fire before fleeing the scene. Images circulating on social media showed the vehicle engulfed in flames following the assault.

Following the attack, a heavy contingent of police was deployed to the area, and a search operation was launched to track down the assailants. Security in and around Kohat has been tightened, with checkpoints established on major routes to prevent the attackers from escaping.

The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in the region. Officials have vowed to bring those responsible to justice and ensure that such attacks do not go unanswered.
