SALEHPAT (Reporter Mir Usama Shambhani): A meeting regarding education-related issues was held in the Tarai village near Salehpat under the auspices of the social organization RDTI. The meeting focused on the prolonged closure of GBPS Rato Bhanbhro Tarai and the urgent need to reopen the school and appoint teachers.

During the meeting, participants discussed measures to ensure the reopening of the school and the appointment of teaching staff. The participants also discussed issuing certificates to students who complete Grade 5 in 2026 and facilitating their admission to middle schools so that their education does not come to a halt.

The meeting also considered working jointly with welfare and social organizations to improve educational facilities and address the problems faced by students in the area.

Local residents claimed that around 400 students are enrolled at the school. They alleged that although teachers are shown in the official records, there are no teachers available to provide regular education to the children.

According to the villagers, the school has reportedly remained locked for approximately 10 months, depriving hundreds of children of their basic right to education.

The residents further alleged that the concerned Taluka Education Officer (TEO), Salehpat, and the District Education Officer (DEO), Sukkur, are aware of the situation. They expressed frustration over the continued closure of the school and called for immediate intervention by the education authorities.

The villagers said that the prolonged absence of teachers and closure of the school was seriously affecting the future of the children. They urged the authorities to take immediate and practical steps rather than allowing the problem to continue.

The residents appealed to Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah to take notice of the situation and direct the relevant officials to reopen the school and ensure the appointment of teachers.

They stressed that children in rural areas should not be deprived of education because of administrative or staffing problems. They also called for proper monitoring of schools and teacher attendance to ensure that educational institutions remain functional.

Meanwhile, another primary school in Tarai, GBPS Abbas Ali Bhanbhro, has also reportedly remained closed for several months due to the absence of teachers.

Residents said the closure of multiple schools in the area was creating serious difficulties for local children and their families. They demanded that the education department immediately investigate the situation and ensure that qualified teachers are posted at the affected schools.

Participants at the RDTI meeting emphasized that education is essential for the development of rural communities and that children should be provided with uninterrupted access to schooling.

They also called for cooperation between government departments, social organizations and local communities to address educational problems in the area.

The meeting concluded with a demand for immediate action to reopen the closed schools, appoint teachers, facilitate the continuation of students’ education after Grade 5 and improve the overall educational environment in Tarai.

The villagers expressed hope that the Sindh Education Department would take notice of their concerns and adopt concrete measures to protect the educational future of hundreds of children in the area.
