Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Vienna on a two-day official visit to Austria at the invitation of Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.

Upon arrival in Vienna, the Prime Minister and his delegation were warmly received. A contingent of the Austrian Armed Forces presented a guard of honor, reflecting the significance of the visit and the cordial nature of relations between Pakistan and Austria.

Accompanying the Prime Minister is a high-level delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar. The presence of senior cabinet members underscores the importance Islamabad attaches to enhancing diplomatic and economic engagement with Vienna.

According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, comprehensive discussions will be held during the visit, covering all aspects of bilateral relations. The talks are expected to focus on political cooperation, trade and investment, economic collaboration, climate initiatives, and multilateral engagement. Both sides are also likely to exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to preside over a session of the Pakistan-Austria Business Forum during his stay. The forum will bring together business leaders and investors from both countries to explore opportunities for expanding trade and investment. Officials believe that closer economic ties could open new avenues for cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, information technology, manufacturing, and tourism.

In addition to bilateral meetings, the Prime Minister will visit offices of multilateral organizations based in Vienna. The Austrian capital hosts several important international institutions, and Pakistan’s engagement with these organizations forms a key component of its foreign policy. The visit is expected to reinforce Pakistan’s commitment to constructive multilateral diplomacy and international cooperation.

The Foreign Office spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan and Austria share friendly relations built on mutual respect, dialogue, and adherence to international law. Over the years, the two countries have maintained steady diplomatic engagement and collaborated in areas including development, education, and cultural exchange.

Officials view the visit as an opportunity to further institutionalize cooperation and explore new partnerships. With global challenges ranging from economic uncertainty to climate change, both countries are expected to highlight the importance of coordinated international efforts and strengthened bilateral ties.
