SUKKUR : A protest demonstration was held outside the Sukkur National Press Club by a lawyers’ team against members of the Somro community and a judicial magistrate. The protest was led by Arif Ali Khaki, Naeem Ahmed and Abdul Shakoor.
The protesters raised strong slogans and said the dispute was related to a case involving a marriage of choice. They alleged that on August 2, members of the Somro community subjected Shafi Muhammad Noh Poto and his family members to violence, leaving them injured.
According to the protesters, Shafi Muhammad Noh Poto, his wife and sons were allegedly subjected to physical assault. They further alleged that a case was subsequently registered against the same family that had allegedly been subjected to violence.
The protesters demanded a transparent investigation into what they described as a “false FIR” registered against the arrested individuals and alleged misuse of authority. They called for action against those responsible for the incident and demanded that justice be provided to the affected family.
