Sukkur: Office-bearers of the Pakistan Medical Association Sukkur have expressed serious concern and disappointment over the heavy deductions made from the salaries of faculty members of Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College, Sukkur, during the month of January. In a joint statement, they said that the sudden and unexplained deductions have caused widespread frustration and anxiety among teachers, adversely affecting their morale as well as the academic environment.

PMA Sukkur President Professor Dr. Zulfiqar Somro, General Secretary Dr. Bashir Ahmed Chandio and Press Secretary Dr. Khadim Mangi stated that the administration of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University should immediately review the matter. They demanded that the deducted amounts be restored and transferred to the teachers’ accounts without further delay to address the growing sense of dissatisfaction among the faculty.

The statement further emphasized that to prevent such issues in the future, the university administration should formulate a transparent, clear and teacher-friendly policy, ensuring that faculty members are taken into confidence before making decisions affecting their salaries and service matters. Pakistan Medical Association Sukkur warned that failure to address the legitimate concerns of teachers may further escalate unrest within the academic community, which could ultimately impact the quality of medical education and the healthcare system. The association expressed hope that the university administration would take prompt and positive action to ensure justice for the faculty members
