Hyderabad, February 5, 2026 — In a series of important meetings held on February 5, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hyderabad, Adeel Hussain Chandio, engaged with delegations from various trader associations to discuss security and administrative arrangements for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The meetings were aimed at ensuring a safe and orderly environment in the city’s bustling commercial areas during the peak shopping season.

Representatives from a wide spectrum of trade organizations participated, led by Mahmood Ali Rajput, President of the Hyderabad Traders’ Union. Attendees included officials from prominent markets and commercial centers, such as Farid Chandriger from Sarafa Bazaar, Shabbir Siddiqui and Aziz from SRTC Union, Nauman Shah and Tasleem from Chandni Mobile Market, Farah Shah from Chiragh Mahal Mobile Market, Shahid Khan Ghori from Latifabad Traders’ Union, Zahid Hussain and Nadeem from Ayesha Market, Sarwar Bangash from Jamia Cloth Market, Rasheed Khalji and Hamid Ali from Phuleli Bazaar, Rafiq Qadri from Lohar Market, Aftab Qureshi from Liaquat Colony Market, Tariq Qureshi from Murghi Market, Sunny from Salman Plaza, Shehzad Raza from Subhana Shopping Mall, Rehan Koti from Khawaja Gul Muhammad Market, and Rizwan Deswali from Auto Bhan Market.

During the meetings, a comprehensive review of security and operational measures was conducted. Key areas of discussion included enhancing the existing watch and patrol system, improving market surveillance, and ensuring coordination between traders and police authorities to address potential security concerns efficiently. SSP Chandio emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach, stating that “peace and security in commercial areas can only be maintained when law enforcement and the business community work hand in hand.”

Security Measures and Guidelines for Traders

To strengthen security in major commercial hubs, the following measures and agreements were reached:

  1. Verified Watchmen Deployment: It was agreed that market watchmen would be appointed only after thorough verification by the police to ensure reliability and accountability.
  2. Advanced Surveillance Systems: Traders were advised to install high-resolution CCTV cameras with a minimum of 8 megapixels, along with proper backup systems. These measures aim to facilitate prompt monitoring and response in the event of any untoward incident.
  3. Enhanced Security Patrols: Security in key markets, including Cloth Market, Latifabad No. 8 Main Market, and Sarafa Bazaar, will be further strengthened. Additionally, female police officers will be deployed for foot patrols to provide a secure environment for female shoppers and maintain overall public safety.
  4. Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Traders and authorities agreed to conduct fire safety arrangements and ensure that all entry and exit points of markets are free of encroachments. This will create clear and accessible pathways for emergency evacuations and improve overall crowd management.
  5. Volunteer Assistance During Ramadan: The traders’ community will organize volunteers to assist with security and crowd management during Ramadan, ensuring smooth operations and safety for shoppers.

SSP Chandio assured traders that the Hyderabad Police would implement “foolproof security arrangements” during Ramadan, ensuring that markets remain safe and orderly. He stressed that the partnership between law enforcement and the business community is crucial for maintaining peace and protecting both traders and shoppers.

The meetings were described as constructive and forward-looking, focusing not only on immediate security needs but also on fostering long-term cooperation between the police and commercial stakeholders. The SSP emphasized that such collaboration strengthens the social fabric of Hyderabad and reassures citizens and traders alike of their safety in all public spaces.

The traders’ representatives expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and pledged full cooperation with the police to implement the agreed measures. Mahmood Ali Rajput, President of the Hyderabad Traders’ Union, highlighted the importance of regular communication between the police and traders, noting that “these proactive discussions help prevent incidents and ensure that the city’s commercial hubs remain secure during peak periods.”

In conclusion, Hyderabad Police and the city’s trading community have set a positive precedent for joint security initiatives, particularly in preparation for major religious and festive occasions. The collaborative approach, combining verified watchmen, modern surveillance technology, female police presence, and volunteer support, is expected to create a safe and welcoming shopping environment for residents and visitors throughout Ramadan.
