Mobile Internet Services Remain Suspended in Quetta for Third Consecutive Day, Causing Widespread Difficulties

Quetta: Mobile internet services in Quetta have remained suspended for the third consecutive day, causing significant difficulties for residents, including business owners, students, and other users who rely heavily on mobile data connectivity for daily activities.

According to Geo News, mobile data internet services in Quetta were suspended on Saturday and have yet to be restored. The prolonged disruption has led to growing frustration among citizens, as there has been no clear timeline announced for the resumption of services.

The suspension of mobile internet has severely affected routine life in the provincial capital of Balochistan. Business owners report disruptions in communication with clients, suppliers, and financial institutions, particularly those who depend on online transactions and digital platforms. Small traders and freelancers have been especially impacted, as mobile internet serves as their primary means of connectivity.

Students have also been among the hardest hit. Many rely on mobile data for online classes, educational resources, and academic communication. The ongoing outage has made it difficult for them to attend virtual lectures, submit assignments, or access study materials, raising concerns about academic setbacks.

General users have reported difficulties in accessing essential services such as online banking, ride-hailing applications, food delivery services, and emergency communication platforms. In a city where broadband internet coverage is limited in many areas, mobile data remains a critical lifeline for a large segment of the population.

Meanwhile, transportation services have also been disrupted. Train services from Quetta to various destinations within the country, including Chaman, have been suspended for the third consecutive day. Additionally, the Jaffar Express, which operates between Quetta and Peshawar, did not depart today for the third day in a row.

According to railway officials, the passenger train service to Chaman also remained suspended and did not operate as scheduled. Officials stated that train services have been halted due to unavoidable reasons, though no further details were provided regarding the nature of these reasons or the expected duration of the suspension.

The continued suspension of train services has added to the hardships of passengers, many of whom rely on rail transport for intercity travel due to limited and costly alternatives. Passengers stranded in Quetta and other destinations have expressed concern over travel delays, financial losses, and uncertainty.

The simultaneous disruption of mobile internet and train services has amplified the sense of inconvenience and isolation among residents. Citizens say the lack of communication has made it difficult to obtain timely information regarding transport schedules, official announcements, and emergency updates.

So far, authorities have not issued an official statement explaining the exact reasons behind the continued suspension of mobile internet services. In the absence of clear communication, speculation and concern continue to grow among the public.

In previous instances, mobile internet services in Balochistan have been suspended due to security concerns. However, the lack of official clarification in the current situation has raised questions about transparency and public communication.

Civil society members and local residents have urged authorities to restore mobile internet services at the earliest, emphasizing the importance of connectivity in modern life. They argue that prolonged shutdowns disproportionately affect students, low-income workers, and small businesses, while also hampering access to information.

Digital rights advocates have also raised concerns about the broader impact of internet shutdowns, noting that such measures can disrupt economic activity and limit access to essential services. They stress the need for balancing security considerations with the everyday needs of citizens.

As of now, life in Quetta continues under strained conditions, with residents hoping for the swift restoration of both mobile internet connectivity and railway services. Until services resume, businesses, students, and travelers remain in limbo, facing ongoing challenges in managing their daily affairs.
