Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to introduce mandatory digital biometric verification of students for the 2026 Matric and Intermediate examinations to eliminate cheating, impersonation, and irregularities, and to enhance transparency.
The decision was taken during a meeting held at the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore, which was attended by senior officials from all nine educational boards of Punjab.
According to the decisions made in the meeting, students’ identities will be digitally verified before their entry into the examination halls.
Reforms in the practical examination system were also approved, including a standardized grading system, CCTV monitoring in laboratories, and a digital marking system, aimed at reducing human error and the chances of corruption.
In addition, it was decided to increase remuneration for examination staff and invigilators to ensure honesty and integrity in the examination process.
Task Force Committee Chairman Muzammil Mahmood issued a strict warning, stating that anyone attempting to influence results or interfere through bribery would face strict legal action.
Officials said these reforms are being introduced to restore public and students’ confidence in Punjab’s education system and to ensure fair and transparent examinations.
BISE Lahore has confirmed that detailed guidelines regarding these reforms will be shared with all schools before the 2026 examination season.
