Australia has announced that it will close its Afghan embassy.
Due to the Taliban regime’s undemocratic and violent policies, Afghanistan is facing international isolation.
Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade stated that the Afghan embassy will cease its operations after June 2026, and it will not accept any representatives, including diplomats or honorary consuls appointed by the Taliban.
According to an Australian publication, the Australian government has refused to recognize the Taliban regime as the legitimate representative of the Afghan people.
The report states that Australian authorities have strongly condemned the Taliban regime’s human rights violations and suppression of dissent.
The Refugee Council of Australia has said that civilians in Afghanistan are even afraid to obtain documents from institutions run by the Taliban regime.
