SUKKUR : A woman from Aliabad Wasan village in Khairpur district, Ms. Shabana Wasan, staged a protest outside the Sukkur Press Club against what she alleged were acts of violence, threats, abuse and injustice by her husband, brothers-in-law and brothers. She demanded the safe recovery of her children, legal action against those allegedly involved and protection for herself and her children.

Speaking to the media during the protest, Shabana Wasan alleged that she had married Haji Bakhsh Ali Wasan approximately 15 years ago. She claimed that shortly after the marriage, her husband allegedly began subjecting her to violence without justification.

According to Shabana, her husband allegedly started mixing intoxicating substances into her food and drinks, after which she would lose consciousness. She further alleged that during this period, her husband would invite other men to the house and allegedly subject her to abuse while she was in an unconscious or helpless condition.

Shabana Wasan further alleged that after she had three children, neighbors told her that unfamiliar men frequently visited her house at night and that whenever they arrived, she was seen in an unconscious state. She claimed that when she questioned her husband, Haji Bakhsh Ali Wasan, about the matter and raised concerns regarding her children, he allegedly subjected her to severe violence.

She alleged that later, two of her brothers-in-law, Rab Nawaz Wasan and Gulshad Wasan, allegedly assaulted her at gunpoint. She said she reported the incident to the relevant police station, but alleged that although the two men were arrested, police released them shortly afterward.

According to Shabana, she subsequently obtained a divorce from her husband. However, she said she continued living in the same house for the sake of her children. She alleged that her husband has now separated her from her children and forcibly expelled her from the house, while her own brothers have allegedly sided with her husband.

Shabana further claimed that she and her children were continuously being subjected to alleged violence and receiving death threats, leaving them in a state of severe fear and insecurity.

The protesting woman made an urgent appeal to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Sindh Chief Minister, Inspector General of Sindh Police, DIG Sukkur and SSP Khairpur, as well as other senior authorities, to order immediate and transparent legal action against her husband, brothers-in-law and other allegedly involved individuals.

She also demanded the safe recovery of her children and called for complete protection for herself and her children, urging the authorities to ensure justice in accordance with the law.
