SUKKUR : A meeting to review arrangements for 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal was held at the Mayor House Sukkur under the chairmanship of Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh, with representatives and office-bearers of various Ahle Sunnat organizations.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Sukkur Khalid Hussain Jatoi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Majid Mako, Mufti Muhammad Ibrahim, Mufti Arif Saeedi, Usman Faizi, Sahibzada Hamid Mahmood Faizi, Hafiz Mehboob Sehto, Maulana Allah Wasayo Hussaini, Noor Ahmed Qasmi, Ghiyasuddin, Syed Afzal Shar, Musharraf Mahmood, Chairman Makki Shah Town Committee Ghulam Murtaza Ghanghro, SMC Executive Engineer Nauman Ahmed, Abid Ali and other concerned officials.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on arrangements for cleanliness, electricity load-shedding, security, illumination of roads and intersections, provision of industrial fans during processions, decoration of the city and other related matters.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sukkur said, “The month in which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came into this world is a source of happiness and joy for all of us.” He said immediate steps were being taken to resolve the issues highlighted during the meeting.
The mayor further said that Sabeels would be arranged at places where required, while major roads and intersections would be decorated with electric lights and green flags.
Regarding load-shedding, Mayor Arsalan Islam Sheikh termed the issue highly important and asked representatives of Ahle Sunnat organizations to consult among themselves and prepare a schedule covering the period up to 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. He said the schedule would then be taken up with SEPCO authorities for implementation.
The meeting was informed that rallies in Sukkur would begin from 1 Rabi-ul-Awwal, while, according to the traditional arrangements, around 72 small and large processions would be taken out across the city.
The participants emphasized coordinated efforts among the municipal administration, relevant departments and religious organizations to ensure smooth arrangements for the religious observances.
