Prayer Ceremony Held at Sukkur Press Club on Martyr Journalist Jan Muhammad Mahar’s Death Anniversary

SUKKUR : A special prayer ceremony was held at the Sukkur Press Club on the death anniversary of martyred journalist Jan Muhammad Mahar. The event was jointly organized by the Sukkur Press Club, Sukkur Union of Journalists, Sindh Women Journalists Association, Cameramen and Photojournalists Association, Court Reporters Association, and PFUJ SAFMA Sukkur Chapter. Charity was also distributed among participants as Sadaqah-e-Jariyah for the spiritual reward of the deceased journalist.

Office-bearers of various journalistic organizations, senior journalists, reporters, cameramen, photojournalists, court reporters and other members of the journalist community attended the ceremony.

On the occasion, participants paid tribute to the journalistic services, principles and struggle of Shaheed Jan Muhammad Mahar for raising his voice for truth and justice. They recalled his valuable contributions to journalism and his efforts to highlight public issues.

Lala Asad Pathan, Finance Secretary of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), also attended the ceremony as a special guest.

The participants said that Jan Muhammad Mahar was among the courageous and fearless journalists of Sukkur who continued to bring facts before the public despite difficult circumstances. They said he remained committed to highlighting the problems of oppressed and deprived sections of society.

The speakers described his martyrdom as an irreparable loss for the journalist community, adding that his journalistic services, professional integrity and struggle for truth would always be remembered.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, special prayers were offered for the elevation of the ranks and forgiveness of Shaheed Jan Muhammad Mahar and all deceased journalists. Prayers were also offered for patience and strength for the bereaved families.

The participants reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the mission of freedom of the press, truthfulness and highlighting public issues.

Later, Sadaqah-e-Jariyah was distributed among the participants, followed by a special prayer for the forgiveness and eternal peace of Shaheed Jan Muhammad Mahar.
