Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police arrested four individuals for allegedly resorting to aerial firing on the night of Independence Day and registered cases against them at the relevant police stations.
The action was carried out on the directives of DIG Hyderabad Range Tariq Razzaq Khan Dharejo and SSP Hyderabad Shahzaib Chachar. Police teams from Hatri, Pinyari and Sakhi Pir police stations took effective action against those involved in aerial firing.
Following strict instructions from SSP Hyderabad Shahzaib Chachar, Hyderabad Police launched operations against aerial firing to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.
Hatri Police:
A police team led by SHO Inspector Ghulam Farooq Rahipoto encountered armed suspects allegedly engaged in aerial firing within the limits of Hatri Police Station. When police attempted to stop them, the suspects allegedly opened fire at the police and resisted. During the retaliatory action, police arrested two suspects, Nisar Momin Pathan and Miraj Momin Pathan. A rifle-like 30 MP5 pistol was recovered from Nisar Momin Pathan, while a stick was recovered from Miraj Momin Pathan.
Pinyari Police:
A police team led by Muhammad Ayub Odho arrested suspect Umair Arain for allegedly carrying out aerial firing within the police station’s jurisdiction. Police recovered a 30-bore pistol along with ammunition from his possession.
Sakhi Pir Police:
A team headed by SHO Inspector Shehzad Qazi arrested suspect Anas Qureshi for allegedly engaging in aerial firing. Police recovered a 9mm pistol along with ammunition from his possession.
Legal proceedings were initiated against all four arrested suspects, and cases were registered at the respective police stations.
At Hatri Police Station, Case No. 278/2026 was registered under Sections 353, 324, 337-H(ii) and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, while Case No. 279/2026 was registered under Section 25 of the Sindh Arms Act.
At Pinyari Police Station, Case No. 197/2026 was registered under Section 23-A of the Sindh Arms Act.
At Sakhi Pir Police Station, Case No. 124/2026 was registered under Section 25 of the Sindh Arms Act.
SSP Hyderabad Shahzaib Chachar said that aerial firing would not be tolerated under any circumstances, even during celebrations. He added that Hyderabad Police would continue taking indiscriminate legal action against those violating the law to protect the lives and property of citizens and maintain peace and order.
