ISLAMABAD: US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker on Friday called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and both sides discussed bilateral cooperation and the prevailing regional situation.
According to Foreign Office spokesperson, Dar welcomed the positive developments in Pakistan-US relations and stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for achieving lasting peace.
The deputy prime minister emphasised that the full implementation of the June 18 Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding was the only way forward.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its national interests while working for regional peace and security.
Baker, meanwhile, appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability.
The US chargé d’affaires also conveyed greetings to Dar on Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The two sides reiterated their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson.
Earlier, US embassy in Pakistan shared an Independence Day message of Baker on X, congratulating Pakistan on the occasion and highlighting the longstanding ties between the two countries.
“The United States was proud to be one of the first nations to recognize Pakistan’s independence,” Baker said in the video message.
She said the friendship between the United States and Pakistan had grown stronger over the past eight decades, extending wishes for peace and happiness to people across Pakistan celebrating the day with their loved ones.
