KARACHI: The Additional District and Sessions Court South in Karachi has accepted the acquittal plea of accused Anmol alias Pinky and acquitted her in a drug-related case.
A case was registered against the accused at the Gizri Police Station in 2021, and she had subsequently been declared a proclaimed offender in the case.
During the hearing, the defence counsel argued that two co-accused in the case had already been acquitted by the court. According to the lawyer, Ali and Fahmida were acquitted in 2024.
The defence counsel told the court that Anmol alias Pinky had been implicated in the case on the basis of statements given by the co-accused. Since the co-accused had already been acquitted, the lawyer argued that there was no likelihood of securing a conviction against the accused in the present case.
After reviewing the arguments of the defence counsel and examining the case record, the court accepted the acquittal application and acquitted Anmol alias Pinky in the case.
Questions Raised Over Alleged Security Protocol for Anmol Pinky
It may be recalled that on May 12, police, in a joint operation with a federal intelligence agency, arrested Anmol alias Pinky, who was allegedly involved in the supply of narcotics in Karachi.
According to police, the alleged cocaine dealer was arrested from a flat in the Garden area of Karachi during a morning raid.
She was later presented before the City Court under security arrangements by the police investigation department.
