Larkana : A grand ceremony was organized at the Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Memorial Library, Larkana, by its in-charge Shamsuddin Abbasi to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14.
Deputy Commissioner Larkana Tariq Manzoor Chandio, Nazir Hussain Abro, Waqar Ali Kanasro, Sadia Abro, Rehman Gad, along with teachers and a large number of female students from various educational institutions across the city, attended the ceremony.
The event began with the national anthem, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate Pakistan’s independence.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Tariq Manzoor Chandio said that the Girls’ Section of Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Memorial Library had organized an impressive programme to pay tribute to the national heroes.
He praised the organizers and students for arranging the ceremony and congratulated the library in-charge, teachers, and participating students on the occasion of Independence Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Shamsuddin Abbasi said that August 14 is a day of great joy for the nation because Pakistan gained independence from British colonial rule on August 14, 1947.
He said Pakistanis are fortunate to be citizens of an independent country. He paid tribute to the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and other leaders and elders who, after a prolonged struggle and immense sacrifices, secured freedom for the beloved homeland.
He emphasized that freedom is a great blessing and that the nation must value and protect it through unity, responsibility, and dedication.
During the ceremony, female students also presented various colourful tableaux highlighting patriotism, national unity, and the spirit of independence, which were warmly appreciated by the audience.
