Karachi: Karachi police have claimed a major breakthrough in a case involving the sexual abuse of more than 100 children, arresting the main suspect along with an accomplice. This operation is being described as one of the largest of its kind in recent years.
According to SP Investigation Usman Sadozai, the police team conducted the operation in Tape Sultan following identification by a victim. The arrested suspects include Imran, the central accused, and Waqas Khan, his accomplice. The suspects are alleged to have been involved in the abuse of over 100 children, with complaints reported to the police between 2020 and 2025.
DNA Evidence Links Cases Across Districts
SP Sadozai stated that DNA evidence from multiple districts matched the same individual, prompting a six-year investigation into separate cases connected by this DNA profile. The victims were primarily boys aged 12 to 13 years, and in one case, more than one perpetrator was involved in the abuse. DNA samples from all seven registered cases matched the main suspect.
Formation of Investigation Team
Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan formed a dedicated investigative team on January 6, which operated under the supervision of DIG CIA Mqaddas Haider. Within 11 days, the team successfully apprehended the most wanted suspects. The main accused, Imran, resides in Manzoor Colony and runs a local motorcycle repair shop. He confessed to sexually abusing dozens of children over a six-year period. The victims were often lured near Malir Nadi, and he used his motorcycle to entice them.
Identification by Victims
SP Sadozai reported that in three cases, victims identified Imran, while in one case, a child identified both Imran and Waqas Khan. In one incident, a child was taken to Sirjani by both suspects, and when the child resisted and raised an alarm, the suspects fled the scene.
Police and Government Response
IG Sindh praised the investigative team, stating that the arrests were made following scientific and methodical investigations. He announced that the investigative team would receive awards for their efforts.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed that the case be presented in court based on solid evidence and instructed the Additional IG Karachi to provide daily updates on the investigation. He emphasized that child abuse is completely unacceptable, and the police must take all possible steps to ensure that the suspects are punished.
This case has drawn national attention, highlighting the need for vigilant law enforcement and the use of DNA technology and scientific methods to bring perpetrators of child abuse to justice. The Karachi police’s swift operation and coordinated effort demonstrate the importance of specialized teams in addressing crimes against children and safeguarding vulnerable populations.
