SUKKUR A protest was staged outside the Sukkur National Press Club (Registered) by the Sindh Taraqqi-Pasand Party (STP), Sukkur district, against the proposed creation of new provinces in Sindh and the arrest of the party’s central leaders.
The demonstration was led by STP leader Nomi Sindhi, while a large number of party workers participated in the protest. The demonstrators carried party flags and banners and chanted slogans against the government, expressing strong opposition to any move aimed at dividing Sindh.
Addressing the protesters, Nomi Sindhi said that the people of Sindh would not accept the division of the province under any circumstances. He alleged that conspiracies were being hatched to divide Sindh and weaken its historical, cultural and geographical unity.
He strongly condemned the reported arrests of STP central leaders Haider Mallah, Hoth Khan, Jam Shaukat Abro and Khuda Bakhsh Dars. According to Nomi Sindhi, the leaders were taken into custody by police after holding a press conference.
He said that arresting political leaders and workers for expressing their views was unacceptable and demanded that the government immediately release all detained STP leaders.
The protesters also urged the authorities to respect democratic and constitutional rights, including the right to peaceful political activity and freedom of expression. They warned that if the arrested leaders were not released, the party would expand its protest movement across Sindh.
The demonstration remained peaceful, with participants reiterating their commitment to protecting the territorial integrity and unity of Sindh.
