BADIN (Report: Mehfooz Shah): Three ambulances provided through the joint support of the Sindh Government and UAP have been handed over to the People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) Badin to improve emergency medical services in rural areas of the district.
The ambulances were formally handed over by Chairperson Social Welfare Committee and MNA Haji Rasool Bakhsh Chandio. They will operate under the supervision of PPHI at the Rural Health Centre Shaheed Fazal Rahu, Basic Health Unit Kapri Mori and Basic Health Unit Phalkara.
The newly provided ambulances are equipped with modern and essential medical equipment, including oxygen and other life-saving supplies required to provide immediate assistance to patients during emergencies.
The availability of the ambulances is expected to facilitate the timely transportation of patients to health facilities, particularly from remote and rural areas where access to emergency transport remains a major challenge.
Addressing the ceremony held to hand over the ambulances, MNA Haji Rasool Bakhsh Chandio said that health and education were among the top priorities of the Sindh government.
He said the provincial government was making continuous efforts to improve healthcare facilities and provide better medical services to the people.
He emphasized that ambulance services in rural areas would play an important role in ensuring that patients could reach hospitals without unnecessary delays.
He said critically ill patients could be quickly transferred from basic and rural health centres to larger hospitals for specialized treatment whenever required.
Haji Rasool Bakhsh Chandio directed the relevant PPHI officials to keep the ambulances operational and available for public service at all times.
He also stressed the importance of regular maintenance and inspection of the vehicles so that they could remain functional for a long period.
He directed the concerned officials to arrange immediate repairs in case of any technical fault or mechanical problem.
The MNA said uninterrupted ambulance services were essential during medical emergencies and that every possible measure should be taken to ensure that people in rural communities could receive timely emergency assistance.
He added that properly maintained ambulances would help strengthen the existing healthcare system and improve the referral mechanism between basic health units and major hospitals.
Earlier, an important meeting was also held in the committee room under the chairmanship of Chairperson Social Welfare Committee and MNA Haji Rasool Bakhsh Chandio.
The meeting discussed various matters relating to healthcare and other public welfare issues in Badin district.
Officials and representatives reviewed matters concerning the provision of public services and considered ways to improve facilities for residents, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
The meeting and the ambulance handover ceremony were attended by Deputy Commissioner Badin Yasar Bhatti, MPA Haji Taj Muhammad Mallah, District Health Officer Dr. Zahid Hussain Solangi, Executive Engineer Education Works Asad Mandhro, District Education Officer Sarfraz Samoon, Assistant Commissioner Badin Rajesh Dalpat, UAP Officer Shakeel, Chairman Town Committee Shaheed Fazal Rahu Abdul Salam Arain, District Manager PPHI Badin A. Tahir Lashari and PPHI Badin B. Raziya Aijaan, along with officials and representatives of various relevant departments.
The officials appreciated the provision of the ambulances and highlighted their importance for improving emergency healthcare services in the district.
The ambulances will serve health facilities operating under PPHI and are expected to provide residents with quicker access to emergency transportation and hospital referral services.
The initiative is particularly significant for rural communities, where patients often face difficulties in arranging timely transportation to hospitals during critical medical situations.
The provision of the three ambulances is therefore expected to strengthen the emergency response capacity of the selected health facilities and improve the overall delivery of primary healthcare services in Badin.
Officials stressed that effective utilization, regular maintenance and continuous availability of the ambulances would be essential to ensure that the initiative delivers maximum benefit to the public.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed emphasis on improving healthcare facilities and ensuring that people, particularly those living in remote areas, receive timely and accessible medical assistance.
