Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has strongly recommended raising the salaries of players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), emphasizing fair compensation in line with the growing commercial value of teams. His proposal was made during a meeting of the PSL Governing Council, where owners of the franchises and league officials were present.

According to sources, Naqvi advised team owners to increase players’ pay following the rise in market value of PSL franchises. He emphasized that just as teams benefit from growth, players too should share in the financial rewards.

In the council meeting, Naqvi also suggested that players be made part of an auction system similar to team selections. He proposed that during the PSL 11 draft, franchises should have the opportunity to pick players according to their preference, a move aimed at benefiting players and giving them better earning opportunities.

Sources said the chairman stressed the importance of giving the two new PSL franchises equal opportunities to select players. The upcoming Working Committee meeting is expected to involve discussions on the retention of players by the existing teams, balancing the interests of both old and new franchises.

The meeting, chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, was attended by officials from the PCB, PSL management, and all eight existing franchises. During the session, the new team owners were welcomed, and congratulations were extended to both the successful bidders of the new teams and existing franchises for a smooth and successful PSL auction process.

Naqvi’s proposals are seen as part of an effort to professionalize player management in the league, ensuring that as the PSL grows in popularity and commercial strength, players receive fair compensation and better opportunities to negotiate their contracts.

In conclusion, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s push for higher salaries and inclusion of players in the auction system reflects a focus on fairness, market-driven incentives, and creating a more equitable environment for all PSL participants, particularly with the addition of new teams in the upcoming season.
