LARKANA, August 11, 2026: A widowed woman from Hamal Para, Larkana, appeared at the Larkana Press Club along with her two daughters and appealed to the authorities for justice and protection against what she alleged were illegal actions and harassment by influential relatives.

Addressing a press conference, Nargis Aisha Khuhro said that her husband, Hafiz-ur-Rehman Khuhro, had served as a Grade-17 officer in the Agriculture Department and died of a heart attack in 2018. She said that after his death, she and her two daughters, Tehreem Khuhro and Momal Khuhro, had been residing at the property where her husband had lived.

According to Nargis Aisha, the property consists of three portions. One portion is registered in the name of her husband’s paternal uncle, Ghulam Akbar Khuhro, and his family, while another portion belongs to the widow of her late husband’s other uncle, Abbas Khuhro, and his children. She claimed that her husband had transferred his share of the property to their two daughters during his lifetime and that they possessed the relevant documentary record.

She alleged that Ghulam Akbar Khuhro, along with his son Shehzad Khuhro, was attempting to occupy their portion of the property and had allegedly been harassing the family for some time. She claimed that they had allegedly resorted to firing and had also sent unidentified individuals to their home to intimidate them.

She referred to an incident on July 25, alleging that Ghulam Akbar Khuhro and others stood on the roof and opened fire in an attempt to frighten and threaten the family. She said an FIR was subsequently registered at Dari Police Station and that the suspects were arrested and sent to jail. However, according to her, they were released on bail after four days and allegedly resumed harassing the family.

The widow said that she had approached Dari Police Station, the SSP and DIG offices and had also filed an application before a local court seeking protection. Despite these efforts, she alleged that the harassment had continued and that she feared for the safety of herself and her daughters.

Nargis Aisha appealed to senior authorities to take legal action against the relatives allegedly involved in the harassment, ensure her daughters receive their lawful share of the property and provide security to the family.

PPP Leader Holds Open Court to Address Public Grievances

LARKANA: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Taluka Baqirani President Tariq Anwar Sial held an open court at his residence to listen to public complaints and address problems faced by residents.

A large number of citizens attended the gathering, where Tariq Anwar Sial listened to their complaints and contacted the relevant authorities for possible resolution of their issues.

Speaking to the media, Sial said the open court had been organized on the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Co-Chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari, MPA Faryal Talpur and MPA Sardar Sohail Anwar Sial.

He said the objective was to provide a platform to poor, needy and disadvantaged citizens where they could directly present their problems. He added that direct interaction with people enabled elected representatives and party workers to understand their difficulties more effectively.

Sial said such open courts would continue to be organized regularly so that citizens could have easier access to representatives and their genuine problems could be addressed promptly.

PPP leaders Ghulam Rasool Laghari, Ali Raza Soomro, Muhammad Yousuf Deetho and others were also present.

Green Sindh Foundation Launches Plantation Drive in Larkana

LARKANA: The Green Sindh Foundation organized a tree plantation and environmental awareness event at the Government Girls High School Larkana as part of its “Plant for Pakistan Green Week” campaign.

The event was aimed at promoting tree plantation and encouraging citizens, particularly students, to contribute to making Pakistan greener. An Independence Day cake was also cut during the programme.

Green Sindh Foundation head Zulfiqar Magsi, school principal Mumtaz Begum Solangi, GSTA unit president Shahnaz Mughal and others said Independence Day should also be considered a day to reaffirm the national commitment to protecting land, forests, the environment and the future of coming generations.

They said tree plantation could help Sindh address the effects of climate change and environmental degradation. They urged citizens to plant trees and contribute to clean air, biodiversity, natural beauty and a healthier environment.

A “Green Pakistan” plantation rally was also organized. Students participated in planting saplings in the school park, while teachers were presented with Green Sindh caps.

Sports Competitions Announced for Independence Day Celebrations

LARKANA: District Sports Officer Muhammad Mahfooz Makani has announced a series of sports competitions in connection with Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day celebrations.

The events will be held at the Muhammad Ayub Khuhro Sports Complex, Municipal Stadium and Officers Club Larkana.

A basketball competition will be held on August 13 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, while a karate competition is scheduled for August 14 during the same hours at the Muhammad Ayub Khuhro Sports Complex.

A volleyball match will be played on August 15 from 5:30pm to 8pm at the sports complex. A football match will take place at Municipal Stadium on August 16 from 5:30pm to 8pm.

A table tennis competition for girls will be organized on August 17 from 10am to 1pm at Khuhro Sports Complex, followed by a badminton competition for girls at Officers Club on August 18 from 10am to 1pm.

School Principal Dies After Sustaining Gunshot Wounds

LARKANA: A private school principal, Najibullah Khonaharo, died at the Larkana Trauma Centre after succumbing to injuries sustained in an alleged shooting over a property dispute.

The incident reportedly took place a few days earlier in the Nawan Tak area within the jurisdiction of Dari Police Station. According to the victim’s heirs, Misbahuddin alias Raja Khonaharo, along with his son Bilal Khonaharo, Ejaz Jatoi and other armed men, allegedly entered Al-Hafeez Descent School and shot Najibullah Khonaharo.

He was shifted to the trauma centre for treatment but reportedly died late at night after failing to recover from his injuries.

The victim’s relatives appealed to the authorities to arrest all suspects allegedly involved in the killing and bring them to justice. According to the latest information available, no suspect had been arrested.

Primary Teachers Launch Three-Day Signature Campaign

LARKANA: Primary school teachers across Sindh have launched a three-day signature campaign as the first phase of their protest movement seeking acceptance of their longstanding demands, particularly the introduction of a service structure.

Teachers in Larkana and several other areas began signing campaign documents bearing their SEMIS codes and school-wise names. The campaign was launched on the call of All Sindh Primary Teachers Association (PTA) central president Haji Shafi Muhammad Sattio.

Teachers appealed to the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah to provide primary teachers with a service structure similar to those available in other provinces.

The teachers said their service structure demand had been recognized by the education minister and education secretaries during a protest movement launched in 2025. However, they alleged that the Finance Department had repeatedly delayed the matter.

The signature campaign is being conducted in Larkana, Dokri, Ratodero, Bakrani, Badah, Naudero, Mahota and other towns.

PTA leaders said a memorandum containing their demands would again be submitted to the Sindh government. If their demands were not accepted, they warned of protests at the taluka and district levels, followed by a proposed long march from Bhit Shah to Karachi Press Club. They also warned that the movement could be expanded further.

Ten Laptops Donated to Government School

LARKANA: Senior politician Syed Akbar Shah Rashdi donated 10 laptops and helped establish a computer laboratory at Government Boys Primary School Shahabad, Pir Jo Goth.

An inauguration ceremony was organized by the school’s headmaster, Haji Durr Muhammad Memon. District Education Officer Primary Larkana Anees-ur-Rehman Jalbani, education officials, PTA leaders, teachers, students and residents attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, DEO Anees-ur-Rehman Jalbani appreciated Syed Akbar Hussain Shah Rashdi for taking ownership of the school and providing technological facilities to students.

He said that if residents of rural areas similarly took ownership of their local schools, educational institutions could improve significantly and potentially become model schools at the district and provincial levels.

New SEPCO Assistant Executive Engineer Meets Citizens

LARKANA: Former Information Department Regional Director Darshan Lal, senior journalist Raja Khan Gadehi and others visited the office of newly appointed SEPCO Assistant Executive Engineer Asghar Sangi and congratulated him on his appointment.

Asghar Sangi thanked the visitors for their appreciation and said he would remember the respect and affection shown to him after his posting in Larkana.

He said his office doors would remain open to the general public and citizens could meet him without unnecessary restrictions to present their electricity-related problems. He assured them that efforts would be made to resolve genuine complaints on an urgent basis.

APCA Holds Independence Day Rally

LARKANA: The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) district chapter organized an Independence Day rally from the District Education Officer Primary Office to the Larkana Press Club.

The rally was led by APCA Sindh President Rafiq Ahmed Jatoi. Other office-bearers and employees also participated, carrying national flags, banners and placards.

Addressing the rally, Rafiq Ahmed Jatoi and other speakers said the event was organized to express love for Pakistan and commemorate the country’s Independence Day.

They recalled the struggle led by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders, which culminated in Pakistan’s independence on August 14, 1947.

The speakers paid tribute to Pakistan Army personnel serving on the country’s borders and to martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for national security and sovereignty. They said citizens should renew their commitment to the development, peace and stability of Pakistan.

A special prayer was also offered for the prosperity, security and progress of the country and for the departed souls of fallen soldiers.

Blind Employees Demand Release of 20 Months’ Salaries

LARKANA: Employees recruited on a disability quota protested outside the Larkana Press Club against non-payment of their salaries and alleged failure to provide jobs announced under the disability quota.

Members of the Sindh Blind Action Committee, led by its Larkana president Athar Ali Moryo, said the Sindh government had issued temporary appointment orders to them in different departments in 2022 under the disability quota.

They claimed that they had continued performing their duties honestly but had not received salaries for the past 20 months, causing serious financial difficulties.

The protesters also alleged that visually impaired persons had been repeatedly denied their five percent employment quota for around a decade. They said the organization had been raising the issue peacefully for six years and had repeatedly approached senior authorities.

They demanded immediate payment of their outstanding salaries and provision of jobs under the disability quota.

Labourer Seeks Recovery of Allegedly Robbed Motorcycle and Cash

LARKANA: A labourer, Abdul Latif Mahesar, staged a protest outside the Larkana Press Club seeking recovery of his motorcycle and Rs5,000 allegedly taken during a robbery.

The protester said he worked at a brick kiln and depended on daily labour to support his family. He alleged that about a month earlier, two unidentified armed motorcycle riders intercepted him in the New Stand area within the jurisdiction of Walid Police Station.

According to him, the suspects held him at gunpoint and fled after taking his motorcycle and Rs5,000 in cash.

He said an NC report had been lodged with the relevant police station, but the stolen motorcycle and money had not been recovered.

He appealed to the DIG and SSP Larkana and other authorities to take notice of the matter and ensure recovery of his property.

Nursing House Officers Protest Non-Payment of Five-Month Stipend

LARKANA: Male and female nursing students working as house officers at several nursing colleges and hospitals protested outside the Larkana Press Club over non-payment of their five-month stipend.

Students from the Male College of Nursing Larkana, Female College of Nursing Larkana and Benazir College of Nursing said they had completed their nursing degrees and had been serving as nursing house officers in various departments of Chandka Hospital for the past five months.

They said the stipend had already been approved by the relevant authorities but had not been released despite repeated complaints to the Director of Nursing Sindh, college administrations and other officials.

The protesters said the delay had created serious financial difficulties for both male and female nursing students. They demanded immediate release of the outstanding stipend and warned that the scope of their protest would be expanded if their demand was not addressed.

Deaf and Mute Organization Seeks Financial Support for Cycle Rally

LARKANA: Members of an organization representing deaf and mute persons staged a protest outside the Larkana Press Club seeking financial assistance for a proposed cycle rally from Larkana to Islamabad.

Organization president Fayyaz Hussain Khuhro, along with members including Mudassar Jatoi, Babar Ali Khokhar and Hussain Raza, said members of their organization were workers and voters of the Pakistan Peoples Party.

They said they planned to travel by bicycle from Larkana to Islamabad, where they intended to meet PPP Co-Chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari.

The protesters appealed to the PPP’s local leadership, district administration and elected representatives to provide financial and logistical support so they could organize the rally and begin their journey.

Elderly Widow Alleges Pension Deductions by Union Council Officials

LARKANA: An elderly widow from village Karani in Dokri taluka protested outside the Larkana Press Club, alleging that officials of Union Council Karani had deprived her of a portion of her late husband’s pension.

Alman Khatoon, accompanied by her son Muhammad Yousuf Bughio, alleged that her late husband had served as a naib qasid at the UC Karani office. After his death, his pension became payable in her name.

She alleged that UC Chairman Muhammad Jaman Bughio and Secretary Abdul Sattar Magsi had previously deducted portions of the pension and handed her only a few thousand rupees, while she now claimed that the entire amount was being withheld.

The widow said she had repeatedly approached relevant authorities and elected representatives but had received no relief. She further alleged that the influential chairman had asked her to perform household work in return for receiving her pension.

She appealed to senior authorities to investigate the matter, take legal action if wrongdoing was established and ensure payment of her late husband’s pension without unauthorized deductions.

Disabled Villager Seeks Job and Special Motorcycle

LARKANA: A disabled villager, Lutf Ali Bugti, staged a protest outside the Larkana Press Club, demanding a job under the disability quota and provision of a motorcycle meant for persons with disabilities.

He said his disability had made it extremely difficult for him to earn a livelihood and support his family. He claimed to have repeatedly submitted applications to the Larkana commissioner, deputy commissioner and elected representatives seeking employment under the disability quota and a special motorcycle.

According to him, despite repeated applications, neither demand had been fulfilled.

He appealed to the senior PPP leadership and the Sindh government to take notice of his situation, provide him employment under the disability quota and facilitate the provision of a motorcycle so that he could become more independent and support his family.
