SUKKUR (Bureau Report): A delegation of the Sindh Information Commission (SIC), led by Commissioner-I Muhammad Saleem Khan, visited Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design and Heritage Sukkur and appreciated the institution’s educational, research and innovation-based initiatives.
The delegation included Commissioner-II Noor Muhammad Dayo and Executive Director Zulfiqar Ali Sheikh.
During the visit, Vice Chancellor Aror University Dr. Zahid Hussain Khand briefed the delegation about the university’s academic programmes, research activities and major achievements.
The vice chancellor provided an overview of the institution’s development and highlighted the various initiatives being undertaken to provide students with modern and market-oriented education.
Commissioner-I Muhammad Saleem Khan appreciated the university’s active and dynamic educational initiatives. He also requested the vice chancellor to nominate a focal person who could maintain close coordination and cooperation between Aror University and the Sindh Information Commission.
He emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration in promoting awareness about transparency and citizens’ right to access information.
Commissioner-II Noor Muhammad Dayo said that the Sindh Information Commission was making extensive efforts to create public awareness regarding the Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act, 2016.
He said greater awareness of the law could help citizens understand their right to seek information from public bodies and strengthen transparency in government institutions.
During the visit, the delegation also toured the Khan Aror House of Design and inspected the university’s four academic blocks, where various educational, creative and research-oriented activities were underway.
The members of the Sindh Information Commission interacted with students during their visit and asked them about their future ambitions as well as their academic and professional plans.
The delegation members encouraged students to pursue their educational goals and develop skills that could help them contribute positively to society and the country’s development.
The officials also visited the university’s digital library, where they were informed that approximately 150,000 digital books and educational resources were available to students and faculty members.
The delegation appreciated the availability of extensive digital learning resources and said that access to modern educational material was important for students and researchers in the rapidly changing academic environment.
The Sindh Information Commission delegation also praised Aror University’s initiatives in the fields of education, innovation, research, industrial linkages, scholarships and international cooperation.
The delegation members said that such initiatives could provide students with opportunities to develop professional skills and establish connections with academic and industrial institutions.
During a detailed briefing, Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahid Hussain Khand explained that Aror University was established in 2022 and had expanded its academic and research activities significantly within a relatively short period.
He said the university had introduced academic programmes in line with contemporary educational and professional requirements.
These programmes include BS Artificial Intelligence (AI), Multimedia and Gaming, along with various programmes related to art, architecture, design and other relevant disciplines.
The vice chancellor also briefed the delegation about the overall achievements of the university and highlighted the accomplishments of its faculty members and students in different fields.
He explained that the institution was working to provide students with opportunities to pursue innovative education while encouraging creativity, research and professional development.
The delegation members appreciated the university’s efforts to combine traditional academic disciplines with emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, multimedia and gaming.
They noted that the integration of technology and innovation into higher education was increasingly important for preparing young people for future employment and professional opportunities.
The visit also provided an opportunity for discussions on matters relating to transparency, access to information and institutional development.
The participants exchanged views on the importance of strengthening institutional communication and promoting awareness about citizens’ legal rights regarding access to public information.
