The Sindh government has issued a strong warning to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that strict action will be taken if the party organizes a public rally or gathering on any road in the province, particularly in Karachi. Sindh Interior Minister made the warning amid rising political tensions surrounding PTI’s planned protest activities and ongoing disputes over rally venues.
Speaking to the media, the interior minister made it clear that maintaining law and order, ensuring smooth traffic flow, and protecting public safety are top priorities for the Sindh government. He stressed that while peaceful political activity is a democratic right, it must be carried out within the bounds of the law and in accordance with permissions granted by the authorities.
“If any political party, including PTI, attempts to hold a rally or gathering on a road, the Sindh government will take strict action,” the interior minister warned. He added that roads are meant for public use and emergency services, and blocking them in the name of political protest would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The warning comes at a time when PTI is preparing for a major political show of strength in Karachi. The party has already been involved in a dispute with the Sindh administration over the venue and timing of its proposed rally. While the local administration has granted permission for a rally at a designated location, PTI leaders have insisted on holding the gathering at alternative sites, including areas considered sensitive from a security and traffic perspective.
The interior minister emphasized that the government has provided clear guidelines for political gatherings. He said designated grounds and open spaces are available for rallies, and political parties are free to express their views there. However, he warned that taking over main roads, intersections, or public thoroughfares would create chaos for citizens and could pose serious security risks.
