BHIRIA CITY The Bhiria City chapter of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat organized a protest rally under the slogan “Sindh, My Mother” against the proposed division of Sindh and calls for the creation of new administrative units or provinces in the province.
The rally was held in response to a call by the central organization of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat as part of its campaign against what it describes as threats to the unity and territorial integrity of Sindh.
The demonstration was led by Secretary Nisar Ahmed Lahrani, along with Councillor Rana Abdul Sattar, Rana Sher Muhammad, Javed Jani, Rana Rashid, Rana Mushtaq Ahmed, Shahmir Solangi, Muhammad Rafiq Umrani, Ghulam Rasool Channa, Anwar Ali Rajput, Sadruddin Rajput, Darya Khan Solangi and others.
A number of participants joined the rally and expressed their opposition to any proposal aimed at dividing Sindh or creating new provinces within the province.
Speakers Oppose Division of Sindh
Addressing the protesters, the organizers and other speakers said they believed attempts were being made to undermine the unity of Sindh.
They strongly opposed discussions about dividing the province and creating new provinces or administrative units in Sindh, describing such proposals as deeply offensive to millions of Sindhi people.
The speakers said that millions of Sindhis consider Sindh their motherland and have a strong emotional and cultural attachment to the province.
They argued that any discussion about dividing Sindh was therefore unacceptable to them and could lead to widespread public opposition.
Call to Respect Sindh’s Unity
The protesters urged those advocating the division of Sindh to reconsider their position.
They said that political forces and individuals should avoid making statements or pursuing proposals that could create tension among the people of the province.
The speakers warned that attempts to alter the province’s territorial or administrative structure without the consent of its people could disturb the peaceful environment of Sindh.
They called upon the relevant authorities and political stakeholders to refrain from promoting what they described as divisive proposals.
“Sindh, My Mother” Campaign
The rally was organized under the theme “Sindh, My Mother,” a slogan chosen by the Sindhi Adabi Sangat for its province-wide campaign.
The organization has used the campaign to express opposition to proposals concerning the division of Sindh and the creation of additional provinces or administrative units.
The participants said the campaign was intended to highlight the cultural, historical and emotional connection between the people of Sindh and their land.
They emphasized that writers, poets, intellectuals and members of civil society had a role to play in raising awareness about issues they consider important to the province’s identity and unity.
Warning of Further Resistance
The speakers said millions of Sindhis would never step back from what they described as the defense of their homeland.
They warned that continued discussion about dividing Sindh could lead to further protests and public mobilization.
At the same time, the protesters presented their demonstration as a peaceful expression of opposition to proposals regarding the province’s division.
They called for dialogue and responsible political discourse and urged decision-makers to take the sentiments of the people of Sindh into account before considering any changes to the province’s administrative structure.
The rally concluded with participants reiterating their opposition to the division of Sindh and reaffirming their support for the province’s unity and territorial integrity.
The organizers said they would continue their campaign through peaceful protests and other democratic activities if proposals concerning the division of Sindh remained under discussion.
