NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: The Sindhi Adabi Sangat (Sindhi Literary Association), Naushahro Feroze chapter, held a protest rally under the slogan “Sindh, My Mother” in response to a central call by the organization against what participants described as attempts to undermine the territorial unity of Sindh.
A large number of poets, writers, journalists and socially active citizens participated in the rally.
The demonstration was organized as part of a province-wide protest announced by the central leadership of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat. Participants raised slogans and expressed their opposition to any proposal or political move aimed at dividing Sindh.
Speakers Reject Division of Sindh
Addressing the rally, Sindhi Adabi Sangat District Coordination Secretary Syed Mukhtar Shah, Naushahro Feroze chapter Secretary Qazi Zulfiqar, M. Zafar Tagar, Press Club President Younis Rajpar, Khadim Hussain Mari, Yousuf Mangi, Khadim Hussain Sial, Faqeer Mehr Behan, Ali Nawaz Solangi, Sodhal Mehr, Jabbar Mallah and others expressed strong opposition to any attempt to divide the province.
The speakers said the Sindhi Adabi Sangat had issued a timely call for protest and maintained that Sindh’s poets, writers and political and social activists would not accept the division of Sindh under any circumstances.
They said that people from different sections of Sindh would continue to raise their voices against any proposal that, in their view, threatens the province’s territorial and administrative unity.
Reference to Pakistan Movement
The speakers also referred to Sindh’s historical role in the creation of Pakistan.
They claimed that Sindh was the first province to pass a resolution supporting the creation of Pakistan and argued that attempts to divide the province were therefore unacceptable.
The protesters alleged that efforts were now being made to undermine Sindh’s unity and called for such discussions to be stopped immediately.
They emphasized that Sindh’s identity and territorial integrity should be respected and protected.
Comparison With Other Provinces
The speakers also referred to resolutions passed by the provincial assemblies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab several years ago regarding the creation of additional provinces.
They argued that although such resolutions had been passed in those provinces, new provinces had not been created there.
The speakers questioned why proposals concerning the division of Sindh were being raised when similar resolutions elsewhere had not resulted in the creation of new provinces.
They said that any attempt to divide Sindh would face strong opposition from its people.
Warning of Wider Protest
The protesters warned that they would not accept any move aimed at dividing Sindh.
They called upon the authorities and political forces to immediately stop what they described as rhetoric or proposals concerning the division of the province.
The speakers warned that if such efforts continued, millions of people from Sindh could take to the streets in protest.
They said the literary community, along with political, social and civil-society groups, would continue to raise their voices through peaceful democratic means.
The rally concluded with participants reiterating their commitment to protecting what they described as the unity, identity and territorial integrity of Sindh.
The organizers said similar protests and awareness activities would continue if proposals regarding the division of Sindh remained part of the political debate.
