BENGALURU: A 24-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death during a domestic dispute in Bengaluru, Indian media reported.
The incident reportedly took place on July 25 in the Kumbalgodu area of Bengaluru. The accused was identified as Dheeraj Kumar, while the victim was identified as Reema Kumari.
According to police, Dheeraj allegedly killed his wife and then fled to his home state of Bihar. The landlord reportedly informed police about the incident, following which officers began an investigation and arrested the suspect.
Police said the accused had married Reema about 10 months earlier in a love marriage. The couple had reportedly moved to Bengaluru without informing Reema’s family.
During questioning, Dheeraj allegedly told police that after moving to Bengaluru, his wife spent much of her time making social media reels and that their relationship had become strained.
He also allegedly complained that Reema would prepare food only for herself. Police said these issues became a source of frequent arguments between the couple.
According to the police account, during one such argument, Dheeraj allegedly strangled Reema with her dupatta.
Police said the accused then wrapped the body in a sheet and fled from Bengaluru towards Bihar.
The suspect has been arrested, and police are continuing their investigation into the case.
The allegations and reported confession remain subject to the legal process, and the final facts will be established through the investigation and court proceedings.
