BADIN (Mehfooz Shah): Members of the Gaho community staged a protest outside the National Press Club Badin against what they described as violence against their community in Tando Bago.
Men and women from the Gaho, Umrani, Thebo, and Bakhari Mallah communities participated in the protest and raised concerns over the alleged incident.
The protesters alleged that a man identified as Khan Muhammad Pathan, along with his associates, attacked them during a dispute over a watercourse. They claimed that both men and women were injured during the clash.
The protesters further alleged that one woman suffered a miscarriage as a result of the incident.
They said that despite the alleged attack taking place against their community, an FIR was registered against their people. According to the protesters, four individuals have been arrested, while two others are missing and they alleged that police are not disclosing their whereabouts.
The protesters demanded that SSP Badin conduct a fair and transparent investigation into the matter and ensure that justice is provided to all those affected.
They said that both sides should be treated equally under the law and that the facts surrounding the dispute should be established through an impartial investigation.
On the other hand, when contacted, the SHO Tando Bago gave a different account of the incident. He said that the dispute between the two groups was related to a plot of land.
The SHO said that several people were arrested during the clash and confirmed that an FIR regarding the incident had also been registered on the complaint of Khan Muhammad Pathan.
The police version indicates that the incident involved a dispute between two groups, while members of the Gaho community have called for a transparent investigation into their allegations of violence and the subsequent arrests.
The protesters urged senior police officials to look into the matter personally and ensure that the investigation is conducted fairly and according to law.
