TANDO JAM (Mahboob Hussain Buzdar): The Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam commenced its Independence Day 2026 celebrations with a flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by an inaugural seminar titled “From Markah-e-Haq to the Construction of Pakistan: Role of Agricultural Universities in National Development.”
The seminar was held at the university’s Senate Hall and was chaired by Vice Chancellor Engineer Professor Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal. A large number of faculty members, officers, employees, and students attended the event.
Addressing the seminar, Vice Chancellor Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal said that the progress, defence, and economic stability of any country depend on modern technology, quality education, and skilled youth. He emphasized that the future leadership of Pakistan rests with today’s young generation, making it essential to equip them with knowledge, research capabilities, innovation, and practical skills.
He said that talented and skilled youth could take the country towards new heights of development. Referring to national achievements, he stated that the capabilities of Pakistani youth, advancements in science and technology, and professional planning had demonstrated the importance of national unity, determination, and competence.
The Vice Chancellor said that Markah-e-Haq had further strengthened the nation’s confidence and conveyed that Pakistan would never compromise on its sovereignty and defence.
Highlighting the role of agricultural universities, he said these institutions were playing a vital role in national development through food security, modern agricultural research, climate change solutions, agricultural innovation, and the preparation of skilled human resources. He added that the importance of these institutions would increase further in the future.
On the occasion, STEP Chairman Professor Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar said that various educational, research, social, cultural, environmental, and sports activities would be organized throughout the month as part of Independence Day celebrations. He said these activities aimed to promote patriotism, national unity, social responsibility, and positive awareness among students.
Engineer Dr. Zaheer Khan stressed that agricultural education, research, modern technology, and innovative thinking were essential for Pakistan’s sustainable development.
Earlier, Vice Chancellor Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal hoisted the national flag outside the Vice Chancellor Secretariat. Special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s security, stability, prosperity, and for the elevated ranks of the martyrs of the nation.
On the occasion, Dean Dr. Syed Ghiyasuddin Shah Rashdi, Dr. Munir Ahmed Mangrio, and Dr. Abdul Mubeen Lodhi were also present on the stage.
