At least four police personnel were martyred in separate firing incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts, highlighting the continuing security challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in the province.

According to a spokesperson for Lakki Marwat police, three traffic police officials were martyred when unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire on them in Sarai Naurang city. The attack took place while the officers were performing their official duties, underscoring the vulnerability of police personnel deployed in public service roles.

The police spokesperson identified the martyred officials as Jalal Khan, Incharge Traffic Police Naurang, along with Constables Azizullah and Abdullah. All three sustained fatal injuries as a result of the firing. After the attack, the assailants managed to flee the scene on their motorcycles, and no immediate arrests were reported.

Following the incident, the bodies of the martyred police officials were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sarai Naurang for medico-legal formalities. Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace and apprehend the attackers. Police officials said investigations are under way, and all possible angles are being examined to identify those responsible for the deadly assault.

In a separate incident in Bannu district, another police official was martyred after coming under fire by unidentified assailants in the Mandan area. According to Bannu police, Constable Rashid Khan was on his way from home to Mandan Police Station to report for duty when armed individuals opened fire on him. The constable sustained critical injuries and succumbed on the spot.

Police officials in Bannu said the attackers escaped after the incident, and a search operation was initiated in the surrounding areas. Security has been heightened, and checkpoints have been set up to prevent the suspects from fleeing the district. Investigators are also collecting evidence from the crime scene to aid in the identification and arrest of the perpetrators.

The attacks have drawn strong condemnation from the provincial leadership. Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Suhail Afridi, condemned the firing incident in Lakki Marwat and expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of the traffic police personnel. He extended his condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families, acknowledging the sacrifices made by police officials in the line of duty.

In his statement, the chief minister described the incident as tragic and heartbreaking, emphasizing that the sacrifices of the martyred police officials would not go in vain. He said that cowardly attacks by anti-state elements would not succeed in their malicious objectives and that the resolve of the government and security forces against terrorism remains unshaken.

Suhail Afridi highlighted the crucial role of police personnel in the fight against terrorism, noting that they are on the front lines and continue to make immense sacrifices to protect citizens and maintain law and order. He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with the police force in these difficult times.

The chief minister further directed law enforcement agencies to ensure that those involved in the attacks are brought to justice and punished according to the law. He assured that all available resources would be utilized to track down the perpetrators and dismantle networks involved in such acts of violence.

Emphasizing support for the families of the martyrs, Suhail Afridi said the provincial government would provide all possible assistance to the bereaved families. He reiterated that the welfare of the families of fallen police personnel remains a priority and that the government would not abandon those who have lost their loved ones while serving the nation.

These incidents come amid ongoing security concerns in parts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where police and security forces have repeatedly been targeted by militant elements. Despite these challenges, law enforcement agencies continue to carry out their duties, often at great personal risk.

Senior police officials have stated that operations against criminal and militant elements will continue with renewed determination. They emphasized that attacks on police personnel are attacks on the state itself and will be met with firm and decisive action.

The martyrdom of four police officials in Lakki Marwat and Bannu has once again brought into focus the sacrifices made by law enforcement agencies across Pakistan. As investigations continue, authorities have vowed to ensure accountability and strengthen security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
