QUETTA: National Party chief and former Balochistan Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has called for preserving the 18th Constitutional Amendment and the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, urging that the idea of creating more provinces should be abandoned.
Addressing a joining ceremony organized by the National Party in Quetta, Abdul Malik Baloch said that his party had presented Balochistan’s case before the federal government and expressed hope that implementation of the proposed measures could help improve the situation in the province.
He stressed that the 1973 Constitution, the 18th Amendment, and the NFC Award should not be altered, adding that discussions regarding the formation of additional provinces should be set aside.
The former chief minister also emphasized the need to strengthen local government institutions in Balochistan, stating that empowered local bodies were essential for addressing public issues and improving governance at the grassroots level.
Abdul Malik Baloch reiterated that political stability, constitutional continuity, and effective provincial autonomy were important for the development and progress of Balochistan.
